Charming Home Tour Locations

The Shotts Home – 1105 Palmetto (near 3rd Street)

Exuding charm inside & out, and built at only 596 sf, this 1928 Craftsman bungalow became one third larger nearly eighty years later through additions of a contemporary kitchen & a third bedroom. Characteristics retained include pine flooring, most of the original ceiling fixtures & single pane window glass that waves with age. Calming wall colors meet a beach cottage aesthetic accented with family heirlooms and local art.

The Heideman-Martin Home – 1107 Palmetto (near 3rd Street)

The lovely Deco entry reveals a through-view of this 1923 gem’s interior public spaces. A house-wide living room flows through the dining area into the kitchen. Original heart pine flooring gleamingly restored & ingeniously hidden doors that mask unexpected storage are complemented by impeccable interior design that merges historical & natural artifacts with an eclectic collection of both art & furniture. Every detail of this home captivates.

The Lloyd Home – 1109 Live Oak (between 3rd & 4th Street)
NSB’s Sunny South Hospital & Sanitarium (circa 1938) converted to a single family home years ago, but recent renovations impressively reimagine it. Front porches return to open air. Altered interior walls create bright, flowing public space along with 4 varied bedroom suites. Original sash windows, built-in bookcase and heart pine flooring remain. Some original doors move from hinges to barn-sliders, & the remains of a heart pine joist become mantles & bar shelving.
The Popeck Home – 1309 Live Oak (between 5th and 6th)

Clever visualization opened a standard mid-century Florida ranch into this light-filled, airy home. At its heart, vaulted ceilings & flowing indoor family spaces spill seamlessly into a covered patio & screened pool area that doubles the entertainment area, providing for outdoor dining, lounging & warming by the fire pit. Lots of well curated Florida-made art, along with clever storage & display solutions to delight the eye.

The Brenneisen Home – 1411 Palmetto (between 6th and 7th Streets)
With a minimal footprint unaltered over 75 years, 1411 showcases a particular mid-century characteristic to be found in the bedrooms & the enclosed back porch. Small rooms accommodate basic furnishing choices, but the current owners have made distinctive choices, further accented by art & collectibles from prior homes of considerably larger area. If you are thinking of downsizing, come here for some key ideas about resolving the challenges.
